If you’ve bought any digital music or films from a Cruxy artist, you might have noticed a variety of options for how to download your purchased media:

Instead of locking you into a specific desktop player or device, Cruxy gives you some choice and freedom with how and where to receive and play your media. You always have access to directly download the original media file created by the artist in the format they choose and that media file is yours forever. That is what “DRM-free” means.
You can also download your purchases through an RSS “podcast” feed. This means you can access anything you purchase on Cruxy automagically through any application or device which supports podcasting. This ranges from applications such as iTunes and FireAnt to your mobile phone and TiVO. With our last release of Cruxy, we are now proud to directly support the fantastic Democracy Player.
Democracy Player is a free desktop application for watching internet TV. You can subscribe to thousands of free internet TV channels, including any video podcast, video blog, or video RSS feed. Easy to use, supports BitTorrent, watch fullscreen, free and open-source.
The screenshow below shows my personal purchase feed in Democracy, downloading a short video I purchased last week, Learning from Bob & Denise, to support a great new architecture film in production.

Once the download is complete, I can just click on the big green play button to watch my new video in all of its high-resolution glory. The next time I make a purchase, I simply open Democracy, refresh my purchase feed, and the new video will be automatically downloaded and available for playback. Democracy suppports pretty much every type of video out there, so its a good way to enjoy the variety of formats offered by Cruxy artists.
Finally, you can also get free preview feeds of all Cruxy searches - here’s a feed of the latest films available for download. You can add this into Democracy and watch up to one minute previews of each:
Thanks to the Participatory Culture Foundation for making an open-source media application that is powerful and easy to use. Here’s to a DRM-free 2007!
